About north point acupuncture

 About Me

Jade Hughes BSC hons, MBAcC

My journey with acupuncture began from a very personal place—years of living with stubborn sciatic back pain. After countless attempts to find relief, I finally decided to visit an acupuncturist. The results were nothing short of life-changing. The treatment not only eased my pain but also improved my overall sense of well-being in ways I never expected. I was blown away by the benefits and felt compelled to learn more about this ancient practice. Before long, I was completely hooked.

As I explored acupuncture more deeply, I discovered the rich philosophy behind Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). Unlike Western medicine, which often focuses on symptoms, TCM views the body as an interconnected system of energy, or Qi, that flows through meridians. A TCM diagnosis looks at the whole person—body, mind, and lifestyle—seeking to understand the root cause of imbalance rather than just treating what’s on the surface. Acupuncture, along with techniques like herbal medicine, cupping, and dietary therapy, works to restore this natural balance so the body can heal itself. This wisdom has been refined over thousands of years. With origins dating back more than 2,500 years, acupuncture remains a powerful, time-tested approach to health and wellness.

Inspired by my own transformation, I decided I wanted to study acupuncture full time. In 2022, I applied to and was accepted into the prestigious Northern College of Acupuncture, where I completed a BSc (Hons) in Acupuncture. My degree involved in-depth study of TCM theory, anatomy and physiology, biomedical sciences, clinical diagnostics, and extensive supervised clinical practice. This training gave me a strong understanding of both traditional principles and modern evidence-based research, ensuring I can provide safe, effective, and holistic care to my patients.

I am now a fully qualified acupuncturist and a proud member of the British Acupuncture Council (BAcC)—the UK’s leading professional body for acupuncture practitioners. Being BAcC registered means I adhere to nationally recognised standards of training, professional conduct, and safe practice. It also ensures I am fully insured and committed to ongoing learning, so you can feel confident that you are in trusted hands.

Beyond acupuncture, I am trained in Massage, First Aid and Mental Health First Aid, and I regularly update my skills through Continuing Professional Development (CPD) in cupping therapy, facial cupping, and auricular (ear) acupuncture. These additional therapies allow me to create personalised treatment plans that address a wide range of conditions, from physical pain to stress, anxiety, and overall well-being.

My own experience is what fuels my passion to share the benefits of acupuncture and TCM with others. Whether you are seeking relief from chronic pain, support for emotional health, or simply a deeper connection to your body’s natural rhythms, I am here to guide you on your journey toward balance, vitality, and healing.
